Windows 8 taskbar problem

Hello

I'm having this issue with windows 8 pro taskbar and I had it on the release preview I move the cursor away from the taskbar

When  I point at an icon there "Pinned shortcuts" but the taskbar doesn't recognize that I moved the cursor out of there instead it just shows me

The info or the name of the pinned item

The problem gets fixed sometimes and sometimes starts again..

Cheers!

Same here.  Seems like the taskbar freezes somewhat.  Mouse clicks and gestures still work, but there is no visual indication of windows being open, windows in focus, where the mouse is hovering, or if anything gets clicked.  Definitely a bug.

I think it's a bug. On my machine it is reproducible by locking (Win-L) and then unlocking the desktop.

Workaround: drag  taskbar, say, to the right of the screen, then back to the bottom.

Taskbar is locked by default, so you might need to unlock it before dragging. Right-click on it, and un-tick "Lock taskbar".

Hi,

Please perform clean boot to check the result. Meanwhile, you can refer to the following method to reset icon cache.

1. Open Command Prompt (Admin)
2. Type the following commands one by one

taskkill /F /IM explorer.exe
cd /d %userprofile%\AppData\Local
attrib -h IconCache.db
del IconCache.db
start explorer

I am having the same Problem on my Dell Inspiron 6400 with Win8 and a mobility-modded Radeon Driver (cause there are no Drivers for win8 for this old Inspiron). First i thought about this Radeon Driver to be the troublecauser.

BUT I just wanted to install Network-Fax-Solution and came to the wierd fact that my Setup won't start until i closed my Logitech Mouseware SetPoint.exe.

According to the Taskmanager the Task Setup.exe was waiting for the Task of the Mouseware SetPoint.exe. So I killed that SetPoint.exe and from a sudden the Setup Window appeared. (Thanks for that new function within the stock taskman ... without I might not have found that fact!)

Fax-Software runs nicely now, and everything else seem to be fine. Except for the dead mousebuttons, caused by the missing mouseware ...

I locked the Desktop now several times and the taskbar seems not to freeze anymore.

Maybe some of you can proof this Situation with a USB-connected mouse or Keyboard with Logitech Driver "Mouseware" SetPoint.exe Ver. 6.51.8.0 (installed within 64Bit program files Folder)

So maybe there is a false Hook or some Problem within the USB area in the Win8 Sources or just incompatible Driver for USB-Devices that locks Tasks up ...

UPDATE:
WELL ... after now a few more Locks and unlocks and afk-times the Taskbar still freezes on undefineable timespans ... But I am hoping that the new Mouseware will be more compatible ...

Holly #$%^.
That worked for me.

Problem i had:
In my computer there was a crazy black strip on top of the windows explorer toolbars, that was behaving based on which menu tab i had the mouse cursor ontop. It was acting like crazy.
