Windows 8 photo screensaver

I have 2 installs of Windows 8, one Pro, one Enterprise.  I am having an issue setting the screensaver to display my photos.  I get a message stating:

There are no pictures in c:\users\my user name\pictures.  I have a bunch in there, and the photo app sees all my pictures too.  If I chose a single sub folder under my pictures, the screensaver will work, but it will not work when the pictures(my pictures) folder is selected.  Anybody experience this issue or found any kind of workaround?

Thanks, but I can enable or disable the screen saver anytime, the issue is that it is not recognizing that the pictures or my pictures folder has any content when choosing the photos screen saver.  If I select a sub folder under photos, it will work fine using just that folder.

Randy, I don't know if you are still fighting this issue or not but in my experience Microsoft has not been able to produce a photos screensaver capable of traversing subfolders since Windows XP.  I have tried for years now.  The simplest work-around that I have found is to use gPhotoShow Free.  It's a small, free photo screensaver that carries no malware in my experience.  It does just what it is supposed to do.  You can get it at: http://www.gphotoshow.com/gpshow_free.htm

Best Wishes!

I've actually never had an issue with it until I got Windows 8.  Any subfolder under my pictures or pictures worked great, scrolled through all the folders that were under there.  Thanks for the tip, just don't like installing anything like that on my machines for a function that worked in the past.

Hello.

I've been having the same problem and looked all over to find the answer.  I can choose my "picture library" in my screensaver and it will read the SUBFOLDERS, but with the DESKTOP BACKGROUND, there is no way to have it read the SUBFOLDERS.

The only way around it is to copy all your pictures in one single folders (I have 38 gigs of pics so double that, it's almost 80 gigs and that's a lot of space on my SSD!!).  So I finally found a min software that will fix that.  With this software, you can even direct your DESTOP BACKGROUND to show multiple root folders!!!!
