Windows 8 domain login screen defaults to Other User

We're on a Server 2008 R2 domain. All our Windows 8 systems default to "Other User" on the login screen and asks for an email address. It does not allow you to use a domain login even if you enter this username format:   domain\username

The only way around this is to click "sign-in options" , then click the left "key" icon (local or domain account password)

Then at the bottom it correctly says "Sign in to: OURDOMAIN"

Surely there are many Windows 8 domain users out there with this issue... any ideas on how to fix this default?

Thank you,

Please try to modify the ProfileList registry to check the result. Here is the steps for Windows 7, it also applies on Windows 8.

This didn't fix it. There was one local account in the registry which I removed then rebooted and still get the Microsoft account login as default instead of our domain login. This is across all Windows 8 systems on our domain.

Hi,

We also have this issue. Did you ever find a solution?

It was a GPO we have that disables the Windows "remember last logged on user". This required the user to type their username+password every time they log in instead of just password.  Disabling this GPO seems to "fix" this meaning the previous user is now displayed as a login option, though "other user" is still there and annoying. Good enough for now.

I can't change GPO. This is really annoying to have to hit crt-alt-del twice in order to logon. What causes this to begin with?

I too have this problem.

Installed Windows 8.1, joined our domain and when I boot the pc, it defaults to the Microsoft account logon.
That's extremely unusefull and will create a lot of questions amoungst our users.

Is there a GPO or registry setting that will set the default logon screen to domain/localaccount logon ?

I also have this problem, but only on one tablet Dell Venue 11 Pro.  All other Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 don't have this problem.

Does anyone have a solution for this problem ?  It's not a GPO, my problematic Tablet receive the same GPO of all other computers including Windows 8/8.1.

I would like an answer to this too.  There is a GPO to Block MS accounts from being added or used as a Logon, but I don't want to block MS accounts, I just don't want to have this Other User login as the default, I want the Domain user login as default.  Surely there must be a way.

I know this is a few years old, but, for posterity's sake the answer is to disable the credential provider for Microsoft Accounts. This disables the ability to use an MSA for logon, but, still allows the use of it once logged in. This also applies to Windows 10.

Group Policy \Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\System\Logon\Exclude credential providers

the CLSID for Microsoft Account's - {F8A0B131-5F68-486C-8040-7E8FC3C85BB6}
