Windows 8 displays on 22 inches of my 24 inch monitor
i just finished building this computer today because i got my optical drive today. i know that the problem is not the monitor because when ever i go into the bios of the computer the bios takes full advantage of my 24 inch 19020 x 1080 monitor display. when i load windows 8 it only displays the content on a 22 inch spectrum of the monitor. i went to display settings and it is set to 1920 x 1080. i also installed the drivers for my AMD graphics card. idont know what is wrong.

Is it that you have black bars on the top and bottom, or the sides?  If you drop the resolution (1 drop at a time) do you find a resolution where it displays without any black bars?  I too have a 24 inch monitor at 1920x1200 resolution so it definitely isn't a Windows 8 bug but maybe something with the resolution or a bug in the graphic drivers that AMD hasn't fixed.

Go into your ATI Catalyst control center, under your Flat Panel displays or whatever it calls it, go to Scaling Options. (this is only really applicable if you are using HDMI). adjust the scaling bar until the screen fits properly.
