Windows 8 Wireless problem - Limited access

Hi,

I recently brought Dell Vostro and installed Windows 8 Pro. I have other laptops with Vista.

Here couple of issues with Wirelss connection.

1. Wireless connection shows Limited access frequently ( At the same time other laptops, phone, other devices having no issues connecting to router).

I went to device Managers  and all drivers are updated  ( Also Windows updates are updated )

Can someone help? Problem gets resolved after i restart router.

  1. Try to install latest wireless card driver from the manufacturer.
  2.  For a test, try to switch wireless security or wireless mode, for example from WPA to WPA2

Hi,

When the issue occurred, please run ipconfig /all and check the output; or post the output here if you dont mind.

Meanwhile, please check the router:

  1. Try another router to see if it works.
  2. Update the firmware of the router.

Hope this helps.

Thanks.

Hi Nicholas,

Thanks for reply.  Having same issue with home router as well. Firmware is updated on both routers. I'm having no issues with Windows Vista or other handheld devices for connecting to router.

Started to think it has to do with Windows 8?

Thanks for your update.

Please also check if wired connection works. If possible, please try another wireless network card.

In addition, please ensure you have installed the latest version of the driver software for Windows 8:

Intel PROSet/Wireless Software and Drivers for Windows 8

Thanks Nicholas.

I observed that wireless problem was only when I had machine in sleep mode and after staring trying to connect again to wireless.

Looks like installing above drivers solved problem.

Thanks again!

I also had wireless connectivity issues with my wife's new windows 8 notebook and I solved them by uninstalling the Intel PROSet/Wireless Software (Option: "Uninstall a Program")

Nicholas,

Thank you from me also.  I was experiencing the same issue and installing the updated drivers fixed it here as well.  I have a Sony Vaio and was surprised that neither Microsoft Update nor Vaio Update reported that there was an updated driver available.

Thanks again!
Chuck
