Windows 8 Taskbar unresponsive
Hello,
I have windows 8.1 and sometimes the taskbar on the bottom will be unclickable for anything on it, and the only way i have found to fix this problem is to either shut down or restart the computer, or lock and unlock it and it continues to work again, I have also noticed that when I search for something on the top right corner of the screen, I can search for the specific item but I cannot click on those as well.  I can use the arrow keys and enter to run or open that item, but cannot click. Pls help
Thank you.

I would recommend you to check in safe mode and check if the issue still persists.

Try a Clean Boot

You may also try a System Restore. Select any restore point when there was no such issue.

Hi mattballentine,

We hope your issue disappeared under clean boot, it means that it is caused by certain third party software.

Check following symptoms when this issue happen.

Windows that don't allow for a left click intermittently on anything search results (from side panel search), PC settings in metro UI or Microsoft store.

Ctrl-Alt-Del is a work-around fix.

Similar issue could be caused by faulty mouse driver or compatibility. Please try another mouse for a while check if this issue still persists.

If this issue persists, please try change another theme and refresh your system
