Windows 8 Print Spooler service stalls

I have a client who uses a small USB thermal printer to generate receipt tickets for their business.  This is directly connected to the laptop.  Occasionally the printer in devices and printers grays out and reads as offline.  I have tried to move it to another port, power cycle the printer, change cables to no avail.  The only thing that would restore printing was a restart of the laptop which during certain business functions is not an option.   I found on the last occurrence of this that if I restart the print spooler service (which was still running according to the console) the printer would go online again and spit out whatever was in the queue. I have installed this on a different laptop with no issues but that laptop is running Win 10. The printer does not appear to be the issue. Has anyone had this experience/or have any suggestions as to why this service appears to stall?

Thanks

Hello,

Try set the Print Spooler Service as:

1. Startup type -> Automatic

2. Logon type -> Local System account Allow service to interact with desktop

If all the settings are fine. I suspect, other processes may conflicted with this service. I suggest we run Windows in Clean Boot and see if this issue can be reproduced.

Another thought is, does this issue always occur after resuming from sleep mode or hibernation?

Thanks,
