Windows 8 Enterprise to Windows 8.1 Enterprise File Copy Performance problems

Hi,

I am on Windows 8.1 Enterprise x64. I have an issue with file copies between an internal SATA drive and external SATA drive. I seem to generally get USB 3.0 speeds which then slowly decrease to 0. Under Windows 8 I would get consistent 90-100Mbps transfer rates. Now they are typically 25-30Mbps until it drops to zero. The system is quiet, there are no errors in eventlog. I have also noticed a USB 3.0 drive that I have connected is frequently disconnected and connected. Why the performance issues with the SATA drives and also the USB 3.0 issues? Hope to get some help from Microsoft to troubleshoot this. The machine is a Thinkpad W520, internal ultra-bay SATA at 6Gbps, external SATA at 3Gbps. The other drive is USB 3.0. I use the latest Intel RST drivers.

Thanks,

Chris

Hi,

This issue is related to driver.

I suggest we remove the USB 3.0 driver in Device manager and restart the computer.

During the startup, Windows will auto install the driver for USB 3.0. Please make sure that your computer is connected to the internet.

Keep post.
