Windows 8 Blank and Purple Screen (Movable Cursor)

I turned on my Windows 8 Laptop and it wouldn't show the log-in screen. So, I forced the laptop to turn it self off, and then I turned it on. After logging in, it said SkyDrive features won't work (or something like that).

Then, it said "Hi. We're getting your apps ready." I was wondering what happened, and after it finished, I tried logging in. After logging in, the screen was blank for a couple of seconds. Then it when to the start menu, and the background was purple. I tried clicking something but the screen went purple for a minute, then back to what it was. It kept going on and on and on. I turned it off, and turned it back on. The same thing happens, but with the only difference being the login background being purple, too,I bought my HP Windows 8 laptop in January 2013. How do I fix this problem? I need help, please. Thank you!

Hi,

Please first try to boot into Safe mode to see if the issue still persists.

If not, we consider that the issue is caused by graphic card driver.

Go into safe mode and get to device manager ( windows key + x ) go to display adapter

Expand and choose the name for your graphics card right click  : Properties : Driver Tab :

Roll back (assuming it is not greyed out): restart computer.

Or update the driver to check the results.

After I log in and try to go to the device manager, the laptop goes to a purple screen for a minute or two and then goes back into the start menu. Then after a couple of seconds, the screen will become purple again and this pattern repeats itself.

I'm having the same problem, have managed to get the task manager up, and it seems that the CPU fluctuates between 50%-96%, the 96% only when the start menu opens, the same seems to happen with the Disk, so every time that the start menu attempts to open, the CPU and Disk % rises higher than usual, could this possibly cause the problem?

Thanks

James

Hi,

Please try steps in this article to boot into Safe mode:

Let me know if you can roll back the driver when you are in Safe mode, and if the rollback action fix your issue.
