They may have a plan for when they want it to be ready, but not everything in all plans happens when it's planned. 3. When a beta version does come out, the reason it will be a beta test version instead of a released version is that it will still have bugs in it, and Microsoft will be looking for beta test users to inform them of other bugs as they are found, In my view, unless you have a spare computer to install it on, and enjoy doing beta testing of software and reporting of bugs to Microsoft, installing such beta software is just looking for trouble. Yes, you can install beta versions, but for almost everyone I strongly advise against doing that, and waiting for it to be released. Ken Blake, Microsoft MVP

well regardless of what the new windows 8 is called i would still like somehow to beta test it , i have been working with windows and linux and enjoy testing new software to its reasonable limits , i also fix computers and am one of the few people who doesnt allow my operating system to freeze at all , there's always a work around or temp fix to help with testing , i also kinda unofficially seen the windows 7-8 extreme edition running and had the opportunity to repatch drivers and stuff , so what it comes down to is i would rather do this legal because i dont believe in ripped off software , but i really need to advance with all operating systems thank you for taking the time to read this :)

I have been with Connect for a long time. I expect I will see Windows 8 soon as I got early betas of Windows 7 there before it even make release candidate. Is there a place for Certified Partners to request an invite? It is really important that we get a jump on testing our software on Windows 8. Thanks.

Hi all Well, according to this link: http://www.winsupersite.com/article/windows8/mailbag-windows-8-special-edition-136372 Paul advises the following "Microsoft hasn't provided a build of Windows 8 with the new UI to anyone yet. That won't happen until BUILD in September. I won't be writing up any of the alpha stuff this time." However, just like the weather, nothing is guaranteed. Hope is all we have at the moment :) Interesting to say the least :) Microsoft Windows 7 / SP1 Beta Tester Microsoft Office 2010 Beta Tester Beta ID: 1028328

Given the last release I head of was milestone 3, its not even close to being done. This means its an early alpha but I suspect I will see an invite soon. You of all people should know microsoft is very predictable. - It IS called Windows 8 (and most likely next version will be Windows 9) - Everybody knows there's always a beta period and what beta testing means. No reason to even mention your point #3 - You must be swallowing your words now ;-) #FAIL.

Oh really, "Über"? They're so predictable, huh? Well, before they ever came out with any announcement of Windows 95, did you accurately predict that they wouldn't have a "Windows 4," but would have a "Windows 95" instead? And what about NT and Me? Were those names so "predictable"? Oh, and did you somehow guess that they would name their next one from XP a name like "Vista"? And how did you spot so early that they'd suddenly jump back to a number with their new one from Vista? Windows 8 might be called either just "Windows 8," or just about anything else. Microsoft is not really all that predictable, and it should be obvious to you.

I checked on MSDN and in the subscriber area is now available, but I tried to install the 32-bit disk into Windows 7 Virtual PC and that failed. Evidently that demo is not compatible with Virtual PC. My server lacks AMD-V so I cannot use Hyper-V to try that. Yet. Windows MVP, XP, Vista, 7. I have published two guides on installing Windows 8 DP as a virtual machine. The host computer should support hardware Virtualization Technology (VT) in processor. Here is the guide on install Windows 8 in VirtualBox and guide to install Windows 8 in VMware As instructed in msdn site, VMware should be workstation 8 or VMware player 4 and VirtualBox version higher than 4. For some reasons, Windows 8 DP works well inside VMware workstation 8, may be because of VMware tools (install the tools in Windows 7 compatibility). Metro UI and full screen works better. Good luck guys.

You guys might want to mention that with a 2GB RAM allocation, the VMware 8 SVGA driver works fine, but on a 64 bit VM with 4 GB it blows up. -Noel

if you dont have an answer then dont respond, repeating the same "i dont know" several times no matter how long winded or in different ways is still not answering and really just pushes possible "REAL" answers to a point that they arent easily seen
