Windows 8: Unable to connect to internet through VPN

I'm using Windows 8 VPN with the latest updates installed along with cisco vpn client version 5.0.0.7.0440.

When I connect to VPN, I'm unable to connect to internet. Ping fails for the vpn server itself. (The registry entry for cisco vpn display name is fine and has the value of 'Cisco Systems VPN Adapter for 64-bit Windows'.

When I google'd this issue, I got numerous forum threads, but without any concrete solution for this. (I don't have any other special 3rd party software running on my system which could have blocked internet connectivity).

Note that with the same vpn profile/configuration, Im able to connect to internet in Windows 7.

Windows 8 is really driving me crazy, I was sceptical about going for this, but Microsoft really didn't give me a choice as all new laptops come only with Windows 8!!!!!!!

Thanks in advance for any help...

Hi,

Have you tried to uninstall your security software or disable firewall to test th issue?

Meanwhile, you can try this hotfix to check the result.
