Well to be able to join to the the domain all the work station need to be at least pro.

Also you need top configure a DNS that can find the domain you want to join let me explain.

Let`s say your domain is go.local if the client are using some sort of public DNS or the DNS from your ISP they will never be able to find the DC in your domain so it will fail.

So what you need to do is make sure the TCP setting from your network card is configure properly. SO the ip needs to be able to reach the DC`s and also the DNS should be configure to the local domain DNS.

Before doing the join domain you could do a simple ping go.local to see if you can reach the destination

Hello M.Sethuraman,

1) Please make it sure that your DNS is configured properly and verify your SRV records.

2) Please try disabling firewall and Antivirus Application temporarily on the Windows 2008 server and check if it works.

3) You can perform a Dcdiag and see if there are errors. Post it on the forum for further research. Remember to remove sensitive information.

4) If the above solutions doesnt help. Try a clean boot on the client to see if it helps
