Windows 8.1 sleep settings controlled from Window 7 admx GPO

Good day all,

I need to control the Sleep settings for our Windows 8.1 Tablets and wondered if I could do this from creating a custom power plan via Group Policy with the settings I wanted?

The catch is we only have Windows 7.admx files installed only, if I set the powerplan via Windows 7.admx file will it work for the Windows 8.1 OS?

Any help to achieve this would be great, I looked at running a cmd line script powercfg -change -standby-timeout-AC 10 but even after I've run with elevated administrative rights the Immersive GUI in Windows 8.1 still shows the previous sleep settings?

Regards

Paddy

It should work, you can test and check. Else you can download admx for Windows 8.1 https://www.microsoft.com/en-au/download/details.aspx?id=41193

Hi,

In addition, to customize your own sleep settings in power plan, you can export the power plan with the sleep settings you would like, and deploy in GPO by following this article:

Specify a custom active power plan and force Windows to use it
