Windows 8.1 pro pack with Windows Media Center is misconfigured after a refresh the PC.

After I "refreshed" the PC with Windows 8.1, the taking off the applications also malfunctioned & misconfigured, the Windows Media Center from downloading the guide listings and is "stripped" of (functionality) from prior usage. I now need to replace Windows Media Center on my PC. I use a USB TV Tuner to watch programs with a digital antenna.

Is there a way to uninstall the Windows Media Center, to "re-use" the (product key) that came with the Windows 8.1 Pro pack, and reinstall Windows Media Center for "full" functionality?

Hi,

First make sure your Windows 8.1 is not upgraded from Windows 8. Windows 8 key cannot be used to activate in this case.

Try uninstall the Windows media center from Control Panel > Programs and Features > Turn Windows features on or off > Media Features > Windows Media Center.

At the command prompt I used the "slui.exe 3" command to re-activate windows. If still cannot be activated, use slui.exe 4 and follow the instructions as mentioned.

As this thread took awhile to get a reply, the WMC on my i5 CPU machine can't be uninstalled from programs & features, because its "not" present on the list of programs. I have Windows 8.1 preinstalled on my machine, to do re-installing the Operating System. So far, I had to do the procedure (3) times, with adding Windows Media Center & product key. Finally, there's no way to "separately" uninstall WMC without doing a "full" uninstall, for a "re-install" of Win 8.1.   My "luck" has run out to uninstall WMC "separately".
