Windows 8.1 doesn't accept key after recovery (using update option)

Hi all,

yesterday, for some reason windows 8.1 refused to start, it entered recovery mode.

After few tries to start (that resulted in failures), I used the update option inside the advanced options of the recovery mode (that was described as an option to recover without losing any application data).

After several minutes (it takes longer to do this than to do the initial installation) it recovered windows, but 90% of the applications were marked as no longer available or removed (cannot remember the exact wording).

Today, windows is asking to enter the activation key, so I used the same I did when I installed windows (I'm using msdn generated product keys) and now, is telling me the key is not valid, so, I generated another (I have 5 of them) and the error persists.

Can anyone from microsoft explain me why this is happening, the OS in question question is windows 8.1 N.

Thanks,

L.

Hi LPinho,

For an activating issue, it is recommended to make a phone call support directly.

Ok, I will try to get the local microsoft contact list.

Is it possible to know what is the reason the keys are being rejected?

Thanks,

L. Pinho
