Windows 8.1 can't connect to mapped network drives!

I have 2 new systems running windows 8.1. I have several other windows 7 machines, and an HP Media Smart Server. The shared drives I have mapped on my systems for easy access. Music, videos, documents, photos, etc. I was able to connect just fine to them from all systems. Then Win 8 applied an automatic update. Now my two Win 8 machines no longer connect to the mapped drives. If I try to connect to them or the server itself, I get a "Windows Security" pop up asking for Network Credentials. I type in the server username and password and I get "user name or password incorrect." I have tried making changes in credential manager and network properties with no success. Any help or advice is appreciated.

I have searched the forums, and tried several suggested fixes with no luck. This seems to be a prevalent issue with windows 8.

Hi,

Did the Windows 8.1 computers work in a domain environment?

meanwhile, let us know your user name and password used for Windows8.1 or Windows server?

If your computer worked in a domain environment. I suggest you check the Domain state.

I suspect the system changed your computer's membership from a domain to a workgroup.
