Windows 8.1 TPM Owner Password Hashed to AD
I am trying to save TPM Hash to AD and it is working however when I create a recovery .tpm file with the hash info, Windows 8.1 rejects the recovery file. This same process works for Windows 7 computers but fails on Windows 8. The Windows 8 computers show a 27 character hash while Windows 7 is a 28 character hash. Anyone have any luck with this?

Id like to close this one. I was looking at the msTPM-OwnerInformation attribute on the computers Properties window. Instead find the hash in the TPM Devices folder and do a properties on it. Then go to the Attribute Editor tab and scroll down to the msTPM-OwnerInformation attribute. This is the correct hash value you need to paste to the .tpm file for recovery purposes.

I tried these suggestions and still cannot change owner. I am using windows 8.1. I keeping getting the error The specified buffer was too small, Error code 0x802901106.

It seems that the 27 digit code being generated with the hash command should have created a 28 digit code. I am currently unable to re-purpose this laptop. Any suggestions?
