Windows 8.1 Start-up for Digital Signage

Hello-

I'm using the Intel Compute stick with licensed Win 8.1 (as provided). I am try to use this in a Digital Signage application.

I want the system to boot, automatically log in, start the application, and run it full screen in the foreground.

I have successfully...

- modified login to automatic using netplwiz

- enabled the client/player application to automatically start, at startup.

My problem is that I cannot get it to display the sign client application foreground and full screen. The Win 8 Metro desktop over-rides it and minimizes the application. I know the application is running fine, because if I open explorer and select the (already running) app from the task bar, everything works fine from that point.

The questions asked differently: How can I have the system automatically bypass the Metro desktop and bring the running client application to foreground?

What I have unsuccessfully tried:

- Adjusting the application properties (by right clicking on the client application icon) to run "Maximized".

I appreciate any advice; Thank you.   -E

I am pretty sure that there is parameter when starting application from command like that enables what you need. More information is available upon request at

To bypass Metro Screen and directly boot into the Desktop, check out following steps:

1. Right-click on Taskbar and select Properties option.

2. It'll open Taskbar and Navigation properties window.

3. Go to "Navigation" tab and enable "Go to the desktop instead of Start when I sign in" option present in "Start screen" section.

It can also be done in the registry:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\StartPage
OpenAtLogon
REG_DWORD
0

Sorry for the formatting, I took it out of a script.
