I bought a new laptop with windows 8. Later on I was prompted to update to 8.1 which I did. After the update It keeps asking for activation code. What should I do? Please.

Is it just Windows Media Center? If so, try this program: Backup Windows product key

You meant Windows 8 with Media Center, then upgrade to Windows 8.1 and it prompt activation code, isn't it?

According to the explanation of the thread below:

 to install Windows 8.1 Media Center Pack, you must be running Windows 8.1 Pro

This should be able to explain why you encounter this problem.
