Windows 8.1 Pro upgrade (Recovery/refresh missing files)

Had to do a clean install of Win 8 Pro this week due to a Hardware problem, installed all updates including 8.1 

I have been having this problem since the upgrade was in the store, I have even spoke with someone from Microsoft who could not help

need to refresh PC keeping all files and Apps.

Went into settings/update and Recovery/Recovery/refresh PC without effecting files

I get the red band with missing files  My installation Disk  for windows 8 Pro  are not compatible

Hi Ady72,

How did you do the upgrade? Have you created the recovery drive?
We can refer to the link as Milos posted to upgrade the Windows 8 system.

For your issue,we can try to run "dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth" to have a health check of the whole system files.

Please note that "If you upgraded your PC from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1 and your PC has a Windows 8 recovery partition, refreshing your PC will restore Windows 8. Youll need to upgrade to Windows 8.1 after the refresh has finished. "
