Windows 8.1 Pro System image not applicable to other device.

Hello,

I searched the internet for a solution but didn't find anything helpful. So i've got two HP ElitePad 900 tablets. On one i've got some programs that were configured from our automation engineer and now i need to copy this image to the other tablet. When i try to start deploying the image on the device i recieve a message that says the target OS is different than the image. Both devices are with win 8.1 32bit.

I did not try with some third party software for creating image. Windows has enough easy to use tools.

Please help me!

Regards,

Stefan Deliyski.

Hi,

As you post I need to copy this image to the other tablet, I want to know how did you deploy the system to the other one?

To deploy the Windows, we need the WinPE tool and it calls for PXE support from the Ethernet adapter, just like the device like below:

https://www.microsoft.com/surface/en-us/support/hardware-and-drivers/usb-to-ethernet-adapter?lc=1033

three points are required:

  1. A USB port
  2. An Ethernet adapter
  3. Firm ware together with the Ethernet adapter

If you are using an answer file, you may want to validate that it is for the x86 (32 bit) architecture rather than x64 (64 bit). The answer file provides instructions to the installation process and if there is a mismatch with the image it could produce the error in question.

You may also want to ensure that the target system is configured with the same firmware mode as the origin system. Such as if the target system is configured for BIOS (or CSM enabled) and the origin system for UEFI (CSM disabled).
