Windows 8.1 Pro, failed to install Hyper-V, reverting changes

Hi,

I'm trying to install Hyper-V, but I'm unable to do it. After rebooting my PC after adding the feature, update goes to 95% and shows the message that changes are being reverted.

Can someone help me?

Please verify that your machine supports SLAT, virtualization (VT/V), and Data Execution Prevention.

Virtualization and DEP can usually be enabled in the BIOS and then the machine needs to be cold booted (pull the battery if it is a laptop).

SLAT is a dependency of your processor.

I think my computer supports SLAT, processor is an Intel i5 4460. I changed settings in BIOS, made a cold boot and I'm able to check the Hyper-v option in system functions window. I;ve tried many things - uninstalled AntiVirus, several BIOS settings variations, etc.

Grab coreinfo from here:

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/cc835722

run it at a cmd prompt with a -v switch

It will give you the info if you've met slat and HW VT requirements.  Your results should look similar to this:

Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU       X 980  @ 3.33GHz
Intel64 Family 6 Model 44 Stepping 2, GenuineIntel
HYPERVISOR      -       Hypervisor is present
VMX             *       Supports Intel hardware-assisted virtualization
EPT             *       Supports Intel extended page tables (SLAT)

The * for VMX and EPT is required for Hyper-V on Windows 8.x

Thanks for your replies.

I've finally installed Hyper-V, but I had to refresh my PC. It seems that there are some difficulties after using Anytime Upgrade function (I upgraded to Pro version recently).

Hi, I'm facing exactly the same symptoms and I want to try the solution you've found but I didn't get what "refresh" means. What exactly did you do? Thanks!
