Windows 8.1 Preview Sugesstion
I have downloaded win 8.1 Preand it's my first real experience with Win 8.  I enjoy the touch features and relish the thought of moving forward.  I understand the need for desktop mode until everyone gets used to the new interface but at this point if we are moving to touch it should feel like touch.  I like how I have to grab the window and close it.  It feels natural in the progression of things.  But I have no ides why i have to find a scroll bar to scroll through the screen left to right.  Why can't i use the hand cursor and grab the screen and swipe it side to side.  That seems more intuitive to me especially if Kinect for windows will be out.  It is the same concept except i am using the mouse.  If i have to grab the screen to close the app why can't I grab the screen to move the screen as well.  While the keyboard will still be a useful feature until things mature I should be wanting to move away from the keyboard at this point.  this will also drive the adoption of getting used to the touch interface while on a standard PC so when i move to my Windows Surface device of Windows Phone I don't feel as if i miss the tactile keyboard.

What hardware?   Sounds like you are using a standard mouse pointer.  If you don't have a Touch screen but want to try some simulated Touch support and have a Touchpad you may be able to install some software for it which emulates some Touch gestures such as the swipe scrolling that you want to try.

100% agree. If we have to scroll the Start Screen and other "Modern" apps using the mouse, why not use the grabber similar to what closes the screen.  Having to use the old-school scroll bar to scroll left-right seems out of place and not inline with the current headstrong move to touch based devices and activities. Adobe has done this right from day one with all of their products.
