Windows 8.1 Pre-installed, after using for 1 week developed black screen log in issue (June 2015)

Hello.

When I got this pc Win 8.1 was already installed on it.  It was working fine for several days but then suddenly there was a log in problem. When I log in I get a Black Screen with Mouse cursor.

Force-shutdown with power button and restart, sometimes once and sometimes twice gets me logged in properly.  I cannot seem to resolve this. Has anyone else come across this in 2015?

Any suggestions for sorting this would be very much appreciated.

Machine is a Lenovo G50 15.6-inch Notebook (Black) - (Intel Core i7-4510U 3.1 GHz, 8 GB DDR3L RAM.

Hi,

In addition to what suggested by S.Sengupta, this issue might occurs due to explorer.exe not working properly at startup.

Boot up as normal, and wait until you see the cursor on the black screen. When you're booted, press Ctrl+Alt+Del

In the Processes tab of the Task Manager, find explorer.exe

If you find one, right-click it and select End Process

Select File-> Run new task

Enter explorer and press Enter - the desktop should show up

After it has finished loading, reboot and check the issue again.
