Windows 8.1 Partition

Hi Guys,

I got a laptop with Harddisk SSD+HDD. I would like to format the complete system, reinstall win8.1 as primary os and win7 as secondary os.

Is it better to format everything and reinstall operating systems? how to do it?

or doing the partition with windows partition system. Installing the windows7 in the new partition. How to make the selection visible during windows startup?

Please help me.

Thanks

Prasad.

Thanks for the reply S.Sengupta.

I recently brought the lenovo thinkpad edge series laptop with windows8.1, i didn't any DVD, i can onlyreset to factory settings.

I don't know how to create only the windows DVD from laptop backup with out all the extra stuff.

If some one can help on this, it would be helpful.

Thanks

So probably what you can do is to install windows 7 on another partition and then go into winpe, and use bootec /scanos to see if it can detect windows 8.1 and then do a bootrec /rebuildbcd: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927392

Never tried it myself though.

Hi,

Yes, the only choice for you is to do a lean installation for Windows 7 on another partition. And then follow this guide to change your dual-boot menu:
