Windows 8.1 Notifications - Outlook 2013

At one time I had Windows 8 (possibly 8.1 pre-update) and Office 2013 installed. When receiving email in Outlook a notification would appear in the upper-right corner per the Windows 8 notification process. Somewhere along the way this feature stopped working.

I checked PC Settings > Search and apps > Notifications and Outlook 2013 is not listed. I did a fresh install of Windows 8.1 w/ Update and Office 2013 w/ SP1. Outlook 2013 is still not listed.

How do I re-enable this feature? Right now I have to rely on the envelope icon in the system tray for new email.

  1. Start Outlook as an Administrator.
  2. Disable all the Windows 8 Notifications in PC Settings.
  3. Close Outlook.
  4. Start Outlook as an administrator.
  5. Re-enable all the notifications in PC Settings.
  6. Restart the computer.

If Outlook 2013 is still not showing as a Notification app then, reinstall or repair your installation of Office 2013 or Office 365.
