I have recently added by music collection locally to my Windows 8.1 laptop, there are just over 1000 albums.  These had previously been in Zune app on my old computer.

Ive added the local directory path to the Music app as a source \ Collection path to be imported etc.

However nothing is appearing in the Music app, and there is no obvious indication anything is 'working' (indexing etc)?

Any pointers would be much appreciated.

This is a known issue with this app.

Have you tried Windows Media Player?

I had tested with Windows Media Player and it was fine.

What I have found has worked was to move the music into the OneDrive 'Music' folder (rather than using my User 'Profiles' Music folder as a Collection directory path to monitor), but copying only a few albums at a time.  I had initially copied all over (1000+), and left the Music app running over night but had still not imported anything.  When I then tested just copying a few at a time to the OneDrive 'Music' folder (e.g. all Artists starting with 'A') rather than all at once, then it is now importing them (slowly).  Not ideal as it is quite a manual process, but at least it is a solution.
