Windows 8.1 Mail - Sent emails gone
I have used the Windows 8.1 Mail app for over a year. I'm able to store my emails in various folders and it's worked all right. I had a year's worth of sent messages in my Sent folder and then a couple of days ago, all of the emails were gone except those written in the previous 24 hours, and it's continued to keep the emails I've sent since then. I looked in the Deleted folder in case they were accidentally deleted, but they weren't there. Any idea what happened and how I can recover my sent emails?  Thanks.

Tell us more about the mail service that you're using...  (i.e. a POP account from your ISP?)

It is possible that something changed on the email server so that it is set to purge old items automatically

Hi,

In addition to graye's post, if you have setup the same account on Outlook, these emails may have been autoarchived by Outlook.

Yes, it is a POP account from TWC, my ISP. The email server has always only shown Sent emails that I wrote while on my account in webmail, not those I wrote while using Windows Mail. All incoming emails sync into the folders I put them in between Mail and the TWC server.

This had never happened before to Sent email in Mail and in the 2 1/2 weeks since it happened, all subsequent emails show up in the Sent folder. I was not in the Mail settings around the time it happened, so I know I didn't inadvertently change a setting.

Thanks for your reply.
