I have tried enabling the adapter by going to Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center > Change Adapter Settings. Once i click Enable, it first says Enabling followed by Enabled. But it still wont enable it even though it says that it does.
I know other people have been having these issues with WiFi, and they said that they could get on with LAN but not WiFi. I am using a desktop computer, and when I restart my computer, it works for a few minutes, but afterward, it seems as if my computer is set to disable the adapter, and not actually let me re-enable it as I mentioned above.

My driver is up to date. All my other devices are connected to the internet. I suspect that Microsoft needs to release an update to correct this, but in the meantime, does anyone know how I can overcome this?

I may have the same issue with Windows 8.1. After few hours connecting internet, it is corrupted and the connection is limited. I try to disable and then enable or plug out and in the cable, it can not be enable however. I have to restart computer to enable adapter every time. All helps are much appreciated. Please completely remove the adapter's driver, and install it again. Also, Does the connection comes back if you remove the adapter and install it from Device Management

I went to the manufacturer's website (Dell Inspiron 580) and downloaded the latest version of the network adapter driver (Broadcom BCM57788 LOM, v.12.4.03, A01). I then went into the device manager, then went under network adapter, right clicked on the network adapter and then clicked uninstall, and I uninstalled it. I then restarted my computer. I then double clicked the Broadcom file in my Downloads to install it. I then went back to the device manager and right clicked on the network adapter, clicked update, chose to browse my computer for the driver, then chose the let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer option and I then chose to install the one I had just gotten from Dell.

Still, every couple hours, I get disconnected from the internet. While I am disconnected, if I go into the device manager and right click on my network adapter and choose properties, it says that no devices are installed. If I then restart my computer and use the troubleshoot feature, it reconnects, until a couple hours later, it disconnects again.

Obviously, their is a driver installed. I never had this problem in Windows 8.0. It was only when I installed Windows 8.1 that this came up. Please help!
