Windows 8.1 Jump List (Taskbar) Colour

I recently reinstalled Windows 8.1 after having my hard disk replaced. Everything has been alright so far except that my taskbar colouring seems to be off.

The jump list (popup) menu of my taskbar icons has the same background colour as the background colour of the start screen. As a result, this popup menu is not white but instead the same colour as the start screen background colour. (I have verified that changing the start screen background colour changes the popup menu too, but white is not an option for the start screen and I would prefer to have them as two different colours.)

Furthermore the "X" for closing all windows and the "pin" for pinning the program to the taskbar do not seem to be in the right place.

Thank you.

Hi TCKRebeca

Can you provide screenshot as well?

Did everything normal before?

Did you try to change color and taskbar option at Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Personalization\Color and Appearance?

If you familiar with Desktop Window Manager, seems like Desktop Window Manager no longer work in Windows 8.1

Another workaround is changing your background or using 3rd party application

Regarding closing all windows, I suggest you try refresh since this is new installation

I found the answer on another website and this resolved the issue.  The problem is caused by optional update KB3072318.  If you goto Installed Updates and remove this update, it will resolve the Jump List issue.  I followed this advice from website and my jump lists are now able to be read as before.

It is crazy that these guys got the answer before this MS community.
