Windows 8.1 General Configuration Problem

Hi everyone,

Recently I discovered a really weird problem on my laptop. Alright, my laptop is my work computer, provided by my company. I have recently upgraded it to  Windows 8.1 Pro. It's a domain computer.

Recently, about 2 weeks ago. Log on screen started to be really slow ( like 5 minutes to take me log on screen and another 5 minutes to log me in).

Then back at my office, at start up I tried to log in but it said "Domain approbation relationship lost". I called my company tech support, they took it out of the domain, and restarted it to put it back. But after restart, it was still in the domain!!

From then I understood that to log in I should be offline first when at my office to avoid the domain relationship check.

We checked the network adapter configuration, and we found out it was keeping the IP addresses i gave it, so we delete them and restarted. But here again, after restart it still had the IP configuration that we had just erased!!! My company tech support was stunned, they couldn't do anything, so i started this war by myself.

I tried to open event viewer, but it gave me error 50. Tried to troubleshoot it, googled it, tied every solution, but nothing worked.

Then I thought about windows update, and checked it. My computer hasn't been updated for 2 months (probably since I upgraded). I tried to update and got error 8024402C. Googled it and tried all the workarounds I found. Nothing worked.

Finally, yesterday I changed my lock screen, and today when I started my computer, I got my old lock screen!!! That's really weird and I understood that my problem was way bigger than I thought. I now you'll probably advise to to format my computer and do a clean reinstall of windows, but sorry that's not an option for me. All my work is here and I can't afford to lose it.

I also created a local user (administrator account). Tried to use it to update, but got the same problem. And at restart guess what? That user disappeared !!

Seems like windows doesn't save anything since April ( the last time it updated, and probably the time when I entered the domain ).

All my other colleagues are using windows 7 and aren't getting this problem.

I also tried to boot on USB and perform a repair, but I get the "Partition is locked" error.

Please if anyone has any idea I would be very grateful for your help!!

Thank you and sorry for the long post :)

Hi,

Let's check your issue one by one.

Windows update error: This error might be caused by a program running on your computer that's preventing Windows Update Services (SVCHOST) from accessing the Internet. Programs that might do this include firewalls, antispyware software, web accelerators, Internet security or antivirus programs. and proxy servers.

For domain issue, did you use Offline domain service? or this issue can be caused by the fast startup which may fail to renew the DHCP rent when start up.

You can try command ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew to check if you can connect to your domain.

Also, please disable the fast start up under Power plan advanced configuration.

For not saving anything, considering that your user account is corrupted, please let domain administrator to help recreate and repair your domain account, it seems that you logon your domain account as temp account on this computer.

Please let me know if above suggestions can be helpful.
