Windows 8.1 Enterprise (64-bit) update screws up SkyDrive!

I upgraded from Windows 8 Enterprise to 8.1 (64-bit over the top installation).  Now my SkyDrive is screwed up and I can't access any files (in all cases I get a 'An unexpected error is keeping you from copying the file.  (blah blah blah)' Error: 0x80070490: Element not found.

After some investigations, I discovered I now have TWO SkyDrive folder structures under my user account - SkyDrive and SkyDrive(2).

The newer folder structure causes the above mentioned error - the older folder structure (i.e. v8.0 one) allows me to access all the files as expected.

Unfortunately all applications (File Explorer, SkyDrive apps, etc.) point to the new folder structure.  How do I fix this and is this a known

Have same issue. 8.1 screwed my SkyDrive files completely - I lost access to many of my files and cannot get it back.

Hi,

Lets try to redirect the skydrive folder and sync again to see whats going on:

1. Open regedit and find following key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\SkyDrive

2. Change UserFolder to another location.

3. Open the SkyDrive Metro app to confirm your files and new directory.

Then check the issue again.

Right-click the SkyDrive node in Explorer, choose Properties, and go to the Location tab.

There, you will see a text box containing the full path to your current SkyDrive folder (c:\users\%userprofile%\skydrive); you will change that to the location in which you mention files can be opened without issues (c:\users\%userprofile%\skydrive(2).

Then, just click on Ok, and when youre asked whether you want your content to the new location, choose No. Then, just wait for a couple of minutes and you should be fine.

I confirmed this resolved this issue on my laptop.

Hi,

I face the same problem, and I try as you mention, but it never work. The worst is, now, if I login from https://onedrive.live.com; if said no file inside; the onedrive from my laptop point to the folder with ton of files i cannot open.

I look at the cloud icon, it said files are up to date.
