i have U.are.U 4500 Reader from Digital Persona (http://www.digitalpersona.com/Fingerprint-Biometrics/Fingerprint-Readers/U-are-U-4500-Reader/)

It is compatible with Windows 8.1 Pro

BUT!

1) when you just instert it in USB - driver isnt found

2) even when i use older driver and device looks like well installed - Windows Biometric Framework isnt visible anywhere

3) I've tried solutions with manualy enabling by using gpedit.msc but with no difference

Help me get this working please.

According to the  Windows 8 Compatibility Center web page for the DigitalPersona U.are.U 4500 Fingerprint Reader Biometric ,the device is supported on Windows 8.1.

Since it is a hardware ,we still need to install the correct driver manually.

I suggest you contact digitalpersona support to ask for the 4500 Fingerprint Reader driver for Windows 8.1.

Did you get this working eventually?? - I have the exact same problem - U.are.U 4500 fingerprint scanner and Windows 8.1 Enterprise Edition.

I had to install both the fingerprint reader driver and the DigitalPersona Personal application.

The download link to the DigitalPersona Peronsal application is no longer working. Could you share it somewhere please?
