Dear all,

I have Windows 8.1.  However, I do not get any updates for windows through the windows update function.  I changed the settings so that the system downloads and installs all updates automatically.  But I only get updates for other Microsoft products (such as Office) but not for Windows itself.  They just dont show up.  I figured the issue when I tried to install update 1 for 8.1 (KB 2919355).  I downloaded manually all required files in the x64 version (I have a 64 bit-System on an Asus Zenbook 31A Prime).  Unfortunately, even that does not work: The clearcompressionflag.exe does start, but nothing happens (I dont know what should happen, though).  I tried every update file, but Windows keeps telling me: "The update is not applicable to your computer".

So, I am at a loss with the issue.  Maybe someone could help me so that I can install the important update 1 for 8.1?!

First, I suggest to check the Windowsupdate.log at C: windows, which will give detail cause for the error.

Second, I suggest to reset the Windows update component, so that updates like clearcompressionflag.exe, KB2919355, KB2932046, KB2959977, KB2937592, KB2938439, and KB2934018 can be installed:

then pay attention that the KBs I listed should be installed before you install the KB 2919355, they are all required before this one, you can find the reference from Microsoft:
