I would try diagnosing the symptom first. E.g. what if it is a problem with your router? Then you would have done all those software changes for nothing.

As others have suggested, it would first be useful to check your gateway to the internet first and foremost. As KelsWheeler suggested, it couldn't hurt to disconnect your modem and then your router and reconnect them after 30 seconds. After this time, you should be able to reconnect to your wireless router within Windows 8, assuming you are using a wireless connection. If you are using a wired connection, it still would be a good idea to restart your modem. The more information you could give us on your environment, the better chance we have at assisting you in resolving your issue.
