Hi Maddy,

For the issue,I saw many errors in the event log.I don't think the errors are related to your disk usage Problem.

I suggest you try safe mode and clean boot mode to see if it works.

Meanwhile, please use Windows Performance Recorder to see which processes are causing this issue.

Maddy,

Try uninstalling Google Chrome, Google Drive, infact any Google product you are using on your computer, and see if the problem goes away.  It is quite well known that Google Chrome can cause this 100% disk issue.

You can remove Google Chrome from Control Panel/Programs and Features.

Chrome does many things at the same time (that is one of the reasons is is fast).  Of the many things 2 seem to be causing the issue.  As I said I would either re-install Chrome or use another browser.

In my desktop case I had the same issue of 100% disk usage.

Seemed to be resolved when I selected normal start up in msconfig. It worked!

Hi everyone,

after thousand and thousand of drivers installed and removed... after many post I have read, I think I hae found the solutions for many PC... We have many clients and 99% have this problem...

...

The problem is caused by the chipset drivers... I have  solved the problem by downloading the correct chipset drivers. I have also noticed that the problem is on Intel chipset drivers. So I have downloaded in every PC laptop or desktop branded/unbranded intel based the last Intel Chipset Device Software (Utility di aggiornamento INF):

Let me know if this solution can hel You to solve this ANNOING issue.

PC

If you have AMD then their solution wont work and your is caused by something else.  Your best bet is to start your own thread to get the attention you need.

Hi Maddy,

We too, are seeing many systems having performance issues and disk activity reaching 100% all the time. We have been suspecting Symantec Endpoint Protection as one of the causes, but so far have not been able to isolate the exact cause since there are so many different topics that can be found if you search for it.

Besides Chrome, Intel Drivers, do you think SEP is part of the sollution?

Dennis

Hi,

I am Chetan Savade from Symantec Technical Support Team.

SEP supports Windows 8.1 with the release of 12.1 RU4 (12.1.4013.4013). SEP 12.1 RU5 (12.1.5000.5337) is the latest version.

To isolate an issue disable SEP services, to disable SEP service go to Start --> Run --> (Type) smc -stop

& to restart it again type smc -start.

I haven't seen any reported issue with Windows 8.1 higt disk utilization.

Best Regards,

Chetan

Chetan,

I was referring to the Symantec product called the Small Business Edition. This is the former endpoint.cloud product.

Can you tell me if that product is related to know 10% disk use issues?
