Windows 8.1 (64-bit) Keeps Crashing

Hey, first time post. About a month ago I built my first computer and for the most parts it works. There has been instances however where my computer crashes with the blue screen of death. Have you installed any Authentication Credential program ? If, then uninstall that and recheck the issue.

You may also opt for Clean Boot.

We do need the actual log files (called a DMP files) as they contain the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

Please follow our instructions for finding and uploading the files we need to help you fix your computer. They can be found here If you have any questions about the procedure please ask

EG

These crashes were related to memory corruption (probably caused by a driver).

Please run these two tests to verify your memory and find which driver is causing the problem.  Please run verifier first.  You do not need to run memtest yet unless you want to.

If you are over-clocking anything reset to default before running these tests. In other words STOP!!!  If you do not know what this means you probably are not

1-Driver verifier (for complete directions see our wiki here)
2-Memtest. (You can read more about running memtest here)

CRITICAL_STRUCTURE_CORRUPTION (109)
This bugcheck is generated when the kernel detects that critical kernel code or
data have been corrupted. There are generally three causes for a corruption:
1) A driver has inadvertently or deliberately modified critical kernel code
 or data. See http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/driver/kernel/64bitPatching.mspx
2) A developer attempted to set a normal kernel breakpoint using a kernel
debugger that was not attached when the system was booted. Normal breakpoints,
"bp", can only be set if the debugger is attached at boot time. Hardware
breakpoints, "ba", can be set at any time.
3) A hardware corruption occurred, e.g. failing RAM holding kernel code or data.

The newest DMP file in that link was the one from April 17 that is in my previous post.  Is there a new one?

April 18th, 2015 11:58am

I just checked the minidump folder. All I see are those three files. The drive verifier test said to keep restart until the computer crashed. When I restarted the computer did blue screen, but it was too quick for me to see the error. After that I went into safe mode and zipped up the mini dump files.

They are the same three I looked at before.  You could always check your event viewer to see what the code is (or upload it to us).  Sometimes the crash happens so quickly that there is not time to write it to disk.

Please provide us with your Event Viewer administrative logs by following these steps:

Click Start Menu
Type eventvwr into Search programs and files (do not hit enter)
Right click eventvwr.exe and click Run as administrator
Expand Custom Views
Click Administrative Events
Right click Administrative Events
Save all Events in Custom View As...
Save them in a folder where you will remember which folder and save as Errors.evtx
Go to where you saved Errors.evtx
Right click Errors.evtx -> send to -> compressed (zipped) folder
Upload the .zip file to Onedrive or a file sharing service and put a link to it in your next post * If you have updated to win 8.1 and you get the error message "the system cannot find the file specified" it is a known problem.  The work around is to edit the registry.  If you are not comfortable doing this DONT.  If you are, backup the key before you do Press Win+"R" and input regedit
Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WINEVT\Channels. Delete "Microsoft-Windows-DxpTaskRingtone/Analytic"

Still related to memory corruption still not verifier enabled.  What were the results when you typed verifier /query?

This crash occurred without driver verifier being active. Should I try the drive test again and hope that the minidump file will save?
April 18th, 2015 8:59pm

Hey so a couple of things happened. First I received another general crash, so I decided to perform the Driver Verifier test once more. In the instructions, it mentions that DDI compliance checking and randomized low resource simulation, should be unchecked, but I noticed there was also this setting called DDI compliance checking (additional), so this time I unchecked that as well. Then I restarted my computer, and instead of instantly crashing, I was able to use it. After a while, it finally crashed, with the error PFN_List_Corrupt. Here is the mini dump file, and the event log.

Ok I think I found and disabled it. It was called NVIDIA Streamer Service. From my checks of Google, other people seemed to have had a similar issue with the streaming service, so hopefully this will solve the problem. In case this does solve the problem, thanks for all the help everyone.

Well, so much for finding a solution. While playing a videogame the computer crashed once more. Which is such a shame because I really thought a solution was found. Here is the minidump file and the logs.

Hey guys, sorry for not replying to this. Well the case is closed. Apparently I shorted the motherboard when I was installing the computer (first build, what can I say?). That was why the computer was crashing for little to no reason. Well a new motherboard later, and more proper installation care, and the computer is A OK. Thanks for everyone for the help and again, sorry for the late reply.
