Windows 7 workstation - Identifying network - Dynamic IP released during sleep mode - 2003 DHCP Server
Hi,I have a new Win 7 Pro workstation with Broadcom NIC in a 2003 Domain. It is set to use DHCP. My 2003 domain controller is also the DHCP and DNS server. Upon waking from sleep mode I find my workstation "identifying network" with a self assigned IP address. The lease duration for DHCP clients is set to 8 days. How do I make this stop other than assigning it a static IP number? And if we upgrade all our worksations at work from XP to Win7, how would this be of value, "identifying network?" My phone would be rining of the hook with people not able to open Outlook or their CRM.Thank you!JohnJ.Rotten

Hi John, Based on my research, I would like to suggest the following: 1. Update the Broadcom NIC’s driver on this Windows 7 computer. 2. Disable Saving Power function of the wireless NIC: ============================= 1) Click Start, right click on Computer and choose Properties. 2) Click Device Manager in the left pane. 3) Navigate to the NIC, right click on it and choose Properties. 4) Go to Power Management tab. 5) Please uncheck “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power." 6) Restart the computer and check if it works. If the issue persists, please also capture a netmon trace for our further research: 1. Download the Microsoft Network Monitor 3.3. 2. Install network monitor on the computer and start to capture. 3. Make the computer enter Sleep Mode and wake it up. 4. After reproducing this issue, stop capturing and save the netmon trace file to check the related network activations. For your convenience, I have created a workspace for you. You can upload the netmon trace via the following link. (Please choose "Send Files to Microsoft") https://sftasia.one.microsoft.com/choosetransfer.aspx?key=5a76a6b0-e2c9-48ba-a74a-5159ccfbfe13 Password is “MV0pa5rfySH” (without quotations).
