Windows 7 won't start after update.
I installed Windows 7 and had this problem, when I booted the system, and got to the logon screen, if I didn't type in my password fast enough my computer would restart. I could start the computer, and let it sit at the logon screen and after 15-30 seconds the screen would go black and the computer would start up again. If I logged on before the screen went black, but waited more then 5 seconds after the log on screen appeared, the computer would log on, but still the screen would go black and th computer would restart after another 15 seconds. However, if I started the computer and waited eagerly for the second the box appeared for me to type my password in, and immediately loged in, I was fine. I searched all over the net to find out why this was happening, and tried pressing F8 before booting up, and selecting system repair, but no luck with either. It seems nobody else has had this problem. I then decided to just deal with it and I would always have to wait eagerly to log on. That worked fine until 5 days ago, when I updated my system and was prompted to restart. I did so and the system booted and instead of the logon screen I got one saying "Please wait, windows is configuring your system. Do not unplug of turn off your system" or something similar. That was fine until 15 seconds later the screen goes black and the computer restarts, I try 5 more times and no progress. I tried system repair, didn't work. I tried to open system restore, but Windows 7 does not appear in the list of systems, none do. I booted off my windows 7 disc, and tried repair, nothing. I tried booting into Safe mode, last known good configuration, debug mode, and all the others in the list when you press F8 during boot. I can no longer boot into Windows 7 in any way. I tried booting into Windows XP Pro, and opening the drive which Windows 7 is installed on, and opened D:\Windows\winsxs and renamed "pending.xml" to "pending.old" then tried booting into Windows 7. No luck. I then moved "pending.xml (now pending.old), reboot.xml, and poqexec.log" into a newly created folder I made. so they are now in D:\Windows\winsxs\thefolderIcreated I had no luck after trying to boot into Windows. I went to D:\Windows\winsxs\Temp and renamed "PendingDeletes" to "PendingDeletesx" and rebooted, still no luck. I know this build of Windows 7 works with my computer, since I've installed it on my computer 3 other times with no problems. Computer specs: MSI Wind U100 2GB Ram Western Digital: Scorpio Blue SATA 500GB Hard drive Quad boot : Ubuntu 10.04 Notebook Remix, Mac OS X 10.4.2, Windows XP Pro SP3, Windows 7 Enterprise: Build 7600 I don't get a blue screen or error code when booting into Windows 7. I have no clue why I'm having a problem. Any help would be great. I am now going to revert all the files back to their origional state before I moved and renamed things.

Hi there. I have experiencing same problems in Windows 7. I was forced to type fast the password to prevent reboot till I did make a upgrade to IE9 and experiencing a loop restart while this was displayed: "Please wait, windows is configuring your system. Do not unplug of turn off your system" I tried lots of thing but i managed to solve the problem only 50%. I use this to cancel the update and this solved the loop problem, but i still have to type fast the password when login in order to prevent reboot. Did anyone find a solution for this annoying problem?

Hello, I also, have the same problem in Windows 7 Ultimate. So I was forces to type in quickly my password otherwise my pc was rebooting and this week, after new essential update my pc came in a loop when it was restarting. I was able to go back to previous configuration, I disabled automatic update and I'm still searching why it is rebooting. I guess this problem appeared after an update from Windows because I'm sure I did not had this problem in the beginning. But I don't know wich update is responsable. I have posted my problem on another forum so I hope that I have a solution soon.

My DELL has a kind of eventlogging. It seems that my pc is rebooting because there is a problem with SYNCUP.EXE (event = CLR20r3). In my programlist there where 2 different SYNCUP programs and since I did not use them I have uninstalled those programs. But at this moment, when I wait at the login screen, my pc keeps rebooting and the error is again the SYNCUP.EXE with event CLR20r3. I don't find any really solution on the net.

Update: I have renstalled syncup and I don't have het syncup error anymore but the pc keeps rebooting. Suddenly today, I was able to find the ntbtlog.txt file after starting up Windows with the log-option (prevouis I could not find this file on my pc). In this log file I see that the last .sys file that is loaded is cfwids.sys. When I login and windows is startup without any problem, I see that the next .sys file = fastfast.sys. I have repeated this serveral times with always the same result. A search on the net give me serveral reasons; bad memory, corrupted file, problems with USB-device .... I have checked my recent computer completly without any errors and even without my USB-harddisc, the pc keeps rebooting. Perhaps I should contact Microsoft or perhaps DELL ?
