Windows 7 won't boot
Hello,I installed Windows 7 on my Asus G71G laptop (setup for Vista) 2 weeks ago, and it worked fine since yesterday, when it crashed being on "standby" mode (veille prolongein french). As it wouldn't reboot normally, I tried to boot it on mode "without errors" => it launched the repair utility, which couldn't solve the problem (sorry, it's in french):Nom d'vnement de problme: StartupRepairOffline Signature du problme 01: 6.1.7100.0 '' 02: 6.1.7100.0 '' 03: unknown '' 04: 21201232 '' 05: AutoFailover '' 06: 4 '' 07: NoRootCause Version du systme: 6.1.7100.2.0.0.256.1 Identificateur des paramtres rgionaux: 1036 As I tried to boot the computer with the original boot CD, it wouldn't work either, probably because it's a Vista CD.Is it possible to get a Windows 7 boot CD ?Thanks !

It sounds like it may be a hardware problem. You should be able to boot from any bootable CD/DVD including Vista. The Windows 7 DVD is bootable. If you can't boot from it or a Vista DVD you should first check that the BIOS is set to boot from the CD/DVD drive. If it is then there may be a problem with the drive.Kerry Brown MS-MVP - Windows Desktop Experience
