Windows 7 will not start correctly
When the PC is turned on it boots to the 'starting windows' message then hangs until either I have to hot re-boot (ctrl+alt+del), if this doesn't work the PC has to be turned off then back on again. Each time the message displayed is the same i.e. windows did not close / start correctly do you want to run problem finder or start windows normally, I choose the latter and the system starts OK. My PC is Dell Precision 450 with twin 2.7 processors and 3 GB of RAM. The op. system is RC evaluation copy build 7100. Attached is D-Link network switch (Gigabit). Attached to the network switch is ZyXel mains networking and an NAS (Buffalo). I'm not sure when the problem started but it's now happening everytime I turn on the PC. The system works fine (apart from a couple of niggles that I will describe separately) and seems to be quite stable.

Sorry, forgot to put these in.... The 'Start' menu occasionally disappears about half way into task bar. To get it back, I go into (right click on Start) properties, click OK the whole menu appears. Other niggle is with Adobe Illustrator CS, as the W7 Aero can't be supported the screen switches to Windows basic mode. I had a look and can't see any settings in Illustrator or W7. After Illustrator closes and Aero comes back, the taskbar hover doesn't show the thumbnail of the open program until it's clicked on (hope this makes sense). I didn't mention these originally as they seemed unrelated to the original problem of hanging at boot-up.

The 'Start' menu occasionally disappears about half way into task bar. To get it back, I go into (right click on Start) properties, click OK the whole menu appears. It's a known issue on Windows 7 and we have submited to our feedback team. Are you using a Windows 7 RTM version?

Other niggle is with Adobe Illustrator CS, as the W7 Aero can't be supported the screen switches to Windows basic mode. I had a look and can't see any settings in Illustrator or W7. After Illustrator closes and Aero comes back, the taskbar hover doesn't show the thumbnail of the open program until it's clicked on (hope this makes sense). I don't have Adobe Illustrator CS, so I cannot test the issue. According to description, the issue should be a Adobe issue. Could you please contact Adobe support to check it?

In addtion, these issues may not related to Boot problem. I have following suggestion for the boot problem. Suggestion 1==============1. Login the computer in Safe Mode. 2. Launch an elevated CMD window.3. Run the following command: Chkdsk /R If a message is received asking if we will schedule the check the next time the system restarts, select "Y". Then restart the computer and we will be able to finish the scan.4. Restart the computer to test this issue. Suggestion 2==============1. Launch an elevated CMD window.2. Run the following command:SFC /Scannow3. After it finish, please restart the computer to test this issue. Hope it helps.
