Windows 7 will not detect the wireless adapter on my Dell D610 laptopAny workaround?

I have the d620 model and it worked seamlessly, I only need to enter the wireless key to use. You might want to update your D610's bios or wireless adapter's driver, I download Vista version of the driver and it worked fine

I have the same issue. The drivers will not install because Windows 7 cannot detect the hardware. the Fn+F2 key combination to activate the wireless does nothing. Help please.

Ok, so it's October 2010. Anyone with a Dell Latitude D610 laptop will be pleased to know that you can upgrade it to run Windows 7 relatively easily. Firstly I did a clean install of Windows 7 rather than an upgrade from XP or Vista. Once installed, you will notice in Control Panel -> Device Manager that 4 pieces of hardware don't have the right drivers installed. These are, Wireless Adaptor, Graphics Adaptor, Sound and I forget the last one. The Network port works, so attach a Cat 5 cable from your laptop to your router to establish an internet connection. Then run Windows Update. This will give you "optional upgrades" which includes all the device drivers that didn't install on your Win 7 installation. Once Windows Update has loaded everything you can configure the Wireless Adaptor and anything else you require. Hope this helps

Okay so I've been reading all the posts hoping that it would help and so far no luck. My Dell Latitude D610 just got upgraded to windows 7 ultimate and the wifi won't work. The light shows that the wifi is on but i cannot connect to the internet. I checked the device manager and it says that there is no ethernet controller. I've tried downloading many drivers but no luck. I'm an amateur with computers and all the help I can get would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

hey guys.... i believe i have some light for you all. I gave my daughter a D610 which came pre-installed with Linux (ubuntu). She did not like it so i loaded windows 7 and guess what? no wifi. Unknown Device listed on device manager. to make the story short, after almost returning the laptop and spending 2 days looking for drivers everywhere I decided to reload Ubuntu because the wifi always worked. Then going a little deeper inside linux hardware specs I listed all the hardware using the command lshw from linux shell and what shows up as wifi interface? Atheros AR5001x. Problem was almost solved. The adventure now was find the driver for Atheros AR5001x that worked for windows 7. And now just to finish this story even faster, the diver is xp32-5.1.1.9. Unfortunately after downloading the driver I did not save the website. I have the file with me if you need. Just send me a message and i will be more than happy to email it to you. Happy New Year for all!!!!
