Windows 7 wifi help on college network---won't connect
Hey, I just got an Acer 5739G laptop with windows 7. The wifi works fine at my house but it won't connect at my college. The IT guys have no idea and I've spent hours searching online and have not found any solutions. Their solution was to get a CAT5 cable and just plug it in at the library but thats not really what I want to do since I want to use my laptop outside of the library. Does anyone know of any common problems? Thanks in advance. Gleb

Hi Gleb, Firstly, may I know the following: 1. The encryption type of the wireless network of your college. 2. The exact error message you received when the connection failed. Based on my research, I would like to suggest the following: 1. Please check the signal strength. If it is not strong enough, this may cause the network disconnection issue. 2. Update the driver of the wireless network adapter. In addition, I would like to share the following with you: Troubleshoot problems finding wireless networks Troubleshoot network connection problems Hope this helps. Thanks. Nicholas Li - MSFT
