Windows 7 uses wrong credentials when connecting to File Share
Hi All.I have Windows 7 clients as members of MS Windows AD Domain connecting to corporate network by VPN. When client uses Ethernet or WiFi Internet connection everything is ok - all corporate resourses are accessible through VPN as they should be.But when user uses dial-up to connect to Internet and then VPN to connect to corporate network there is a strange problem accessing File Shares. When user try to open File Share using link with simple server name \\server\share or using DFS link \\mydomain.local\share\ system uses dial-up credentials "*Session" instead of user Domain credentials. User fails to authenticate and File Share is inaccessible. When using link with full DNS server name \\server.mydomain.local\share\ system uses Domain credentials and File Share is accessible.I use DSF shares for mapping network drives to all domain workstations and that maps are inaccessible through VPN over dial-up Internet connection on Windows 7 mobile clients. So I need your advice how to resolve described issue. Thanks a lot.

We have a client with this exact problem. Using high speed Data cards that require a dial-up connection to connect. Anyone from Microsoft care to investigate?

Hi, i think i got the same problem, and found out the following: When the username of the dialup-connection, which is used by the VPN, contains an AT-Sign "@" (ppp@a1.net in my case), windows uses this username instead of the right one. Of course, this username is meaningless for the domain, and the access does not work. Whenever you use a FQDN, windows behaves the right way and users the cached credentials for the domain. Anyone an idea? is there a way to access DFS via a "FQDN", including a hostname, as a workaround?
