Windows 7 updates cause IE Browser blank new tab/new windows
I am running WIN 7 on a ThinkPad laptop and on Feb 9th, 2011 a large number of updates came down. I did not change or install anything else. After this, when opening up a new tab or window from a web link in IE 8, you get a blank tab or page hanging. I have reset IE settings to default, disabled all add-ons, reboot, all the logical things. I am NOT running Norton or McFee anti-virus. Today out of options, I downloaded IE 9 RC and even that does not fix the problem. The updates that came down to Windows on Feb 9th include: KB2502285, KB2485376, KB2482017, KB2479628, KB2475792, KB2467023, KB2454826, KB2425227, and KB2393802. There were also a lot of updates applied to Office products at this time too. I can test out the exact same websites in Google Chrome (installed after the problem occured so I know it is not the issue) and the links will open fine in new tab or window. However, we use products that require IE as the browser, so Chrome is not the answer. I do not want to have to rebuild the machine as this will take way too much time. Any ideas around recent patches and updates applied in Feb causing this issue to crop up (again) in windows for machines that were previously working fine?

You can use the System Restore to go back to that state when you didn't install Windows Update. And then, Install Windows 7 Service Pack 1 first. "Everything we do is dictated by motive."

Hi - I am having a tab problem with IE8 on Windows 7 64 bit Lenovo Ideapad. Tried installing IE9 no help. Restored from an image of 6/20/11 and problem solved, but loaded 25 Microsoft Updates and problem started again. Problem is opening second tab takes 2-4 minutes, after 2nd tab is opened all subsequent tabs open quickly. Which Update caused this issue between 6/20/11 & 8/16/11? Is there a fix? Thanks.
