Windows 7 updates are hung
Windows 7 updates are hung on 4 of 10...tried restarting PC and it comes back to same screen. It has been hung here for hours. Help how can I get it out of this cycle and by-pass the updates?

restore your system state using a restore point that dates before the appearance of your problem. More here: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/700-system-restore.html
Once restored proceed like that:
Run chkdsk /r /f and sfc /scannow Download and install system update readiness tool for your OS Reset Windows Update Components

Hi,
You could clear the software distribution folder to check if this issue persists:
1.
Type services.msc in start box to launch services panel.
2.
Stop the Windows Update service.
3.
Select all the contents of the Windows distribution folder, and then delete them.
Note By default, the Windows distribution folder is located in the drive:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution folder. In this location, drive is a placeholder for
the drive where Windows is installed
4.
Start Windows Update service and restart computer to check the result.
