I have a brand new HP with windows 7--I went to turn it off last night and it said not to turn off power--it was trying to download update 4 of 52. I left it on--nothing seems to happen forever. Turning it off does nothing--control, delete does nothing. It is completely frozen and I am not tech savvy at all. Can anyone help me? Thanks in advance.

Try to login using the Safe mode of windows and then search the file windowsupdate.log and post the last 40-50 lines. It will help me to detect the cause of the problem.
