Windows 7 trouble connecting to XP network
I cannot get windows 7 to find any of the computers on my home network. I can ping the systems from a command prompt window. I have changed my workgroup to the same name as my XP workgroups.

Check and see if your Windows 7 system is still in a HomeGroup. If it is take it out. Only other Vista/Windows 7 systems joined in a HomeGroup can see each other in a network.GA P35 DQ6 Mb, Intel Wolfdale 8600 3.33Ghz C2D CPU., 4x2Gb Mushkin DDR2 1066 PC2 8500 Ascents Memory Mods., PNY-nVidia GE Force 8800 GTS (640MB), 4-Western Digital Caviar SATA(2) HDD's (internal), 1 EIDE-USB External; Hauppauge PVR 1600 TV tuner, Dual Monitor: (1) Standard up top, (1) WideScreen below; Altec Lansign Speakers...

I had this same problem and was able to sort it out by clicking the network id button in advanced system properties and setting the first option to home computer. After that I double check that i was in the same workgroup and restarted. It hasn't given me any trouble since and my network drives even connect most of the time.
