Hi, I am going to be building a new desktop PC. I have to put Windows XP Pro on it. I read something about Microsoft having a Windows 7 to Windows XP downgrade option, but I did not fully understand how this works. Can I buy a copy of Windows 7 and rather than installing Windows 7, can I install Windows XP Pro? If so, where do I get the copy of Windows XP Pro? If anyone can explain how this works, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks in advance, Paul

You have rights just Not the way you have said it. You have to install windows 7 first and go thru the process of setting up the PC, YOU must provide the XP media http://www.microsoft.com/oem/en/licensing/sblicensing/pages/downgrade_rights.aspx

To answer Paulekramers question. Since so far no one has. You may downgrade to xp if you have the correct version of windows 7. The editions are ultimate and business.
