Windows 7 task from previous day runs after a system wakes from sleep
Hi, We have a nightly shutdown task that runs at 23:30. If a user (mainly laptops) logs off at the end of their day, and the system later goes to sleep (before the task runs) then when they wake the system next day, the "missed" shutdown task runs and immediately shuts down the system. Trouble is, the setting for "Run task as soon as possible after a scheduled start is missed" is not ticked. Why does Windows run the task in such conditions? The eventlog shows events like this: The system has resumed from sleep. (09:38:58) . . The time service has not synchronized the system time for 86400 seconds because... (09:39:01) . . The time service is now synchronizing the system time with the time source... (09:39:17) . . USER32 initiates a system shutdown, as the task from 23:30 the night before has triggered at 09:39:46 Cheers, Rob

It is normal behavior. To resolve this issue, you may check the option “Wake the computer to run this task” at the Conditions tab of the task.Arthur Xie - MSFT

Maybe it is caused by other configurations. You’d better list all the settings so we can know the situation clearly.Arthur Xie - MSFT
